SALT LAKE COUNTY COUNCIL - DISTRICT 1

TENILLE TAGGART

Tenille is a lightning rod for action - a firebrand who sparks change wherever she goes. With a passion for building vibrant communities and a proven track record of mobilizing thousands to take local action, she's ready to lead from day one.

Tenille has dedicated her life to improving quality of life for Utahns: investing in mental health, fighting for housing and environmental justice, and ensuring that every voice - especially the most marginalized - has a seat at the table. Her commitment to this work earned her the 2025 Democratic Believer's Award for inspiring others to stand up, get involved, and make a difference.

Growing up gay and genderfluid in Davis County, Tenille knows what it's like to feel unseen. That's why she shows up - at legistlative hearings, in neighborhoods, and on the ground - organizing and fighting for those too often left behind.

What I Care About
Salt Lake County spends over half its budget on criminal justice.
Let’s invest more in prevention, parks, arts, and resources that make life worth living.
Community Care
Data-Driven Decisions, People-Focused Results
I studied at a top Clinical Psychology PhD program in the nation-where I focused on social determinants of health for women, minorities, and marginalized communities.
I'll fight for walkable green spaces, cleaner air, more urban trees, and saving the Great Sale Lake - because our future depends on it.
Climate & Clean Air
Housing is a human right. I oppose the criminalization of unhoused neighbors and believe we must collaborate on affordable housing solutions at every level.
Affordable Housing & Homelessness
Representation Matters
With Council Member Arlyn Bradshaw stepping down, we risk losing all LGBTQ+ representation on the Council. I know firsthand how vital it is to be seen, heard, and represented.
